Chef Tajahi Cooke, known as Taj, is a prominent figure in Denver’s culinary scene, celebrated for his dedication to authenticity and community. As the chef/owner of Ms. Betty’s Cooking, named after his grandmother who inspired his passion for food, Taj has earned accolades such as being a 2019 “Top of the Town” nominee by 5280 Magazine, a Denver7 Everyday Hero, and a 2022 Denver Rising Star by StarChefs. His culinary expertise has taken him from working in top Denver restaurants to cooking for Grammy-nominated artists like Rebelution and the Marley family. He also showcased his skills on the national stage as a contestant on Food Network’s Chopped.
Taj’s influence extends beyond the kitchen; he’s a board member for Warren Tech Culinary School and an ambassador for The Emily Griffith Quickstart Culinary Program. He spearheaded the “Chef Kitchen” residency program at Freedom Street Social, providing a platform for emerging chefs. With deep roots in his Jamaican heritage, Taj uses food not just to create memorable dishes but to foster community connections and support local initiatives, such as Ms. Betty’s Harvest Madsgiving
